Bonalesedi Campus started as Leratong Mini-College during February 1978 for the first group of students studying towards the Nursing Diploma, with the last intake for the Diploma in 1985. In 1982, the campus, now called Leratong Hospital Nursing College offered its first midwifery training programme.
In January 1986, the campus started with the first four-year Nursing Diploma programme intake.
Later, Leratong Hospital Nursing College merged with the Boksburg Benoni, Natalspruit and Sebokeng Nursing Colleges to form the Bonalesedi Nursing College.
The college was closed in 2001 and was later reopened in 2009 as a campus of Chris Hani Baragwanath Nursing College for the training of the first-year nursing students doing the four-year Nursing Diploma programme.
In 2019 the campus became a stand-alone campus as part of the six campuses of Gauteng College of Nursing.
